sailing trip

                                                    Sailing trip

On Monday the 10th of May, my class and I went sailing. I had to be at school before 8.30 in the morning. I got here just in time. We waited for the bus to arrive and when it did, we got in with excitement.  On our way to Okahu Bay, I felt very excited and nervous at the same time!

I saw beautiful houses and lots of pretty flowers and trees as we were traveling to Okahu bay. When we got there we meet a guy who told us where to go. He took us to where we had to go sailing. When we got there they talked to us about safety and asked us what do we need for safety... one person said we need a wet suit and another person said a life jacket. After that they said we can have a try at set up our own boat on of the boats was all ready done so when we need help we can go and have a look at it some of the people that set up the boat came around and helping us make our boat.

Then they were telling us the name of the things on the boat. After morning tea they gave us a jacket and a life jacket they said it was too warm for wet suits. Then we went in to our boats and went in the water. We start to play with a ball and throw it into each others boat and if it hit your boat you were in. Our boat got hit and we were in so we threw it to another boat after that they called as to lunch and it started to rain.

After lunch we got into the water and it started to rain like a waterfall. People kept on sailing the wrong way but we worked it out. We had sail to these pink buoys on the water then the guy  said to go back to shore so we went back shore and got ready to go home.

I hope that next year we will get another chance and thank you St Johns Rotary and Sailing NZ.
